Piano lessons near Filton

Hi there and thanks for you interest in taking piano lessons with me in Bristol.

I was raised in a musically inclined family, my passion for music began early. I embarked on my formal piano education at the age of 8, mastering music theory and classical repertoire under the prestigious ABRSM curriculum. My musical journey continued through high school and university, where I developed as a keyboard player, vocalist, and songwriter for various rock and pop groups. Our bands enjoyed recording multiple albums and performing across Scotland's central belt, enriching my experience and love for music.

While pursuing an undergraduate degree at the University of Edinburgh, I expanded my musical horizons by composing instrumental and classical music. This creative exploration led me to score original compositions for short films, documentaries, video games, animations, and advertisements, igniting a passion for media composition.

Following my undergraduate studies, I relocated to Bristol to pursue a Master's degree in Composition of Music for Film and TV, further honing my skills in crafting compelling musical narratives for visual media.

My philosophy as a piano teacher balances the importance of theoretical knowledge and technical skill with creativity, self-expression, and personal musical interpretation. Whether you're interested in pursuing formal qualifications like ABRSM or exploring a broad, creative musical journey, I am here to support and guide you through your piano tuition.

As I mentioned, I am also open to traveling beyond Filton to reach students who are eager to learn and share in the joy of music. This flexibility helps me connect with more students. I teach children, adults, beginners and advanced. And although I can tutor you classical piano music I am also very comfortable teaching you how to play jazz piano as well.

I normally travel to teach at my students’ homes, and can offer piano lessons near Filton, Bristol, where I live but can travel further afield.

However, we can also hire a piano studio one the centre of Bristol at Mickleburgh’s piano store if you were keen to study outside your home.
