About me
I am an Italian saxophonist, pianist and composer born in Milan in 1989. I started to play saxophone when I was 8 years old, together with classical guitar. After studying in my hometown near Milan, I entered the Conservatoire G. Verdi to study classical saxophone. Here, I studied with the soprano saxophonist Marco Bontempo and the pianist Giuliano Bellorini. Since I moved to the UK, I completed a PGDip at Trinity Laban, and a Master's at Goldsmiths University of London. At Goldsmiths, in addition to saxophone, I studied arranging and composition, learning extensively the jazz language both from playing and composing/arranging.
I am the founder and composer of the Betty Accorsi Quartet, with whom I released the album "The Cutty Sark Suite" in December 2020 and played at the Brighton Fringe Festival 2021. I love playing classical pieces on the piano such as Chopin, playing and singing jazz songs, and using the piano for composition. Recently, I started experimenting with solo performance with a piano loop, saxophone and voice playing jazz pieces like My Baby Just Cares for Me by Nina Simone.
As a teacher I encourage students to appreciate the wider musical language, integrating aural practice, improvisation, learning to read music, and I am comfortable teaching both jazz and classical music. I enjoy using the PLUK courses and find them to be an excellent and extensive introduction to the piano, particularly for adults.
I look forward to seeing you soon!
