About me

Hi! I’m Charlotte (Charlie), and I’m thrilled to be your new piano teacher in Horfield, Bristol. I recently graduated from BIMM Bristol with first-class honours in Popular Music Performance. With over 10 years of experience playing piano, I specialise in jazz, pop, soul, and blues.

I’m passionate about both learning and teaching. My approach is relaxed, kind, and patient, ensuring that everyone from children and beginners to adults feels comfortable and encouraged. For me, it’s important that you find joy in learning the piano, not just in the music itself but in the process of learning it.

I love bringing my diverse performance background into my teaching. I’ve played over 50 gigs as a pianist, guitarist, bassist, and vocalist, performing at events like the Bristol Beer Festival and Common Ground Festival, as well as at venues such as Mr. Wolfs and The Southbank Club. Additionally, I’m a professional vocalist and an intermediate guitarist and bassist. My familiarity with Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) and experience in sound engineering also enhance my lessons, especially for students interested in improvisation.

Having previously worked as a 1-1 Teaching Assistant, supporting SEN children and creating a kind and accessible learning environment, I am well-equipped to cater to each student’s unique needs.

When I’m not teaching, I spend most of my free time practising for performances, supporting other artists at their live shows, and writing my own music. I’m committed to creating a positive and enriching learning experience for all my students.

I teach piano in Horfield and can also travel to students' homes across Bristol. Whether you're a child, a beginner, or an adult looking to refine your skills, we'll work hard and have fun doing it. Let’s make some music together!

I teach at Mickleburgh’s piano studios and also offer home visits for piano lessons in Horfield and the surrounding areas.
