Who are you? I’m Ebony, an independent musician in Hove. I write and perform with various local projects and am currently working on my solo album. I’m a big lover of all things creative and find the local music and performing arts scene to be very supporting.
Where do you teach from? I teach from home, which is right next to Hove station. I currently have a set up for online teaching and once PLUK are able to do so we will invite students to come for lessons in person again.
What are the benefits of teaching piano lessons online? One thing I’ve found about online communication is an increase in student concentration, as they need to focus a little more than usual to make sure they see/hear what is being taught. I’ve also found that my ability to describe (rather than show) has increased which allows me to communicate ideas in new ways.

What equipment do you use for your online piano tuition? I have a laptop which I mainly use when speaking to a student. I have this faced side on so students can see a side view of the piano as well my face and hands. I also have a camera stand behind:above my piano with which I show a
close up shot of my hands in the piano.
Would you like to have any equipment that you don’t already have? It would be good to try using a microphone and headphones but I do like using the room I’m in and making it feel a bit more like the lesson is happening in person by having it out loud.
